History
Founded in 1954, when Fort Lauderdale was no more than a Mecca for tourists, “Howard Torn General Contractor” established a name within the construction industry. Specializing in speculative building, tract building and custom building, our construction projects have been a part of the tremendous growth that has taken place throughout South Florida for over the last 50 years.
More recently, our services have expanded beyond our previous horizons to include: multimillion-dollar commercial-residential conversions, and large-scale retrofitting projects, as well as, a variety of other services ranging from expert witness testimony to construction consulting and management. We look forward to what the future has in store as we continue to provide Florida with superior construction-related service in all aspects of the industry.

With 40 years of construction experience and a proven track record of exceptional work, Charles Mishner has elevated the industry's standards through his tremendous dedication, uncompromising integrity, and firm understanding of construction logistics. As a graduate of WVU and a licensed General Contractor and Florida Real Estate Broker, Charles Mishner is knowledgeable about all construction-related practices. He takes great pride in his work, always conducting business transparently and honestly, which values both the quality of construction and the aesthetics of the final product.
MICHAEL MISHNER – Operations Manager
Michael is a third-generation builder whose grandfather, Howard Torn, started Howard Torn Construction Associates, Inc. in 1954. As a operations manager, Mike works in many areas of development and oversees each building project with care and attention to detail from start to finish.
LAUREN ARCENEAUX – Office Manager
With more than a decade of experience in the construction industry, Lauren brings extensive knowledge in construction accounting, office management, and executive support. Serving as the operational backbone of the office, she oversees the financial and administrative functions that keep projects running efficiently while providing organizational support across every level of the company. Her dedication to accuracy, organization, and operational excellence helps ensure each project is supported from inception to completion. Known for her professionalism, attention to detail, and strong work ethic, Lauren is a trusted resource for clients, vendors, and colleagues alike.
